Why I Chose 1Leisure

I started coming to 1Leisure almost four years ago because I felt so unfit and unwell, and I knew something had to change. I began with swimming, then spotted the Aquafit classes and thought I’d give one a try. Narisa, the instructor, welcomed me in and reassured me to just do what I could. I was exhausted after that first class, but I loved it — so I kept coming back. Twice a week became three times a week, and now I’m here Monday to Friday, swimming for an hour and then doing a 45‑minute Aquafit class.

Over time, I could do things I hadn’t been able to do for years. I became more flexible, stronger, and generally felt so much better.

A Life-Changing Setback
Just before Christmas, I became seriously ill and ended up in ICU for five days. When I came round, all I wanted was to get home and get back to Aquafit. After tests, I was told I’d had a heart attack and needed stents.

The Road to Recovery
Once I recovered enough to return home, I was back in the pool within a week and a half — and within two weeks, I was back every day. Getting back in the water felt freeing and uplifting, and being around familiar faces who had become friends meant so much.

A New Routine, A New Life
The doctors told me to keep going, saying the exercise was doing me good. And they were right. Aquafit hasn’t just improved my physical health — it’s transformed my routine, my confidence, and my mental wellbeing. I get up earlier, I’m more disciplined, and I’ve made wonderful friends.

The community is so supportive; we look out for each other, laugh together, and lift each other up.

It’s not just exercise — it’s a holistic approach to life. My only regret is not joining 1Leisure sooner.
